Abstract

It is known that the pages of history are full of characters who did not predict that it would change the reality of a country But the unexpected may happen and the one who changes the conditions of the nation will come overnight and that's what happened with Mu'awiya II the character that the historians Ignore about his news on purpose or not ، almost all the information that comes to us about him are little did not help many of researchers In a statement of his doctrinal and political directives like what happened with the other Umayyad rulers ، despite the abundance of historical sources but we only had scattered signals about the third ruler of the Umayyad dynasty.

Mu'awiya ibn Yazid ibn Mu'awiya ibn Abi Sufyan the third ruler of the Umayyad Caliphate، a young man of good character and good conduct who differed from his fathers by piety and asceticism ، he's known as Mu'awiya II To distinguish him from his grandfather Mu'awiya ibn Abi Sufyan. He received power from his father through credit and he hated that.

When he received power after his father’s death، he announced his abdication through a sermon he delivered to the Levantine society that announced his rejection of this ruling putting it in people's hands which made a big hole in the Umayyad dynasty and more disagreements so they considered him a weak and unable to rule ، he also refused to entrust another one after him so that he does not participate in the affairs of the Umayyads ،he was not satisfied with their policy in the state ، as well as his sudden death and the ensuing disagreements over who will take over the rule ، and the political turmoil that occurred in the cities and territories of the Umayyad dynasty
