Stylistic Phenomena in Nata’ij al-Fikr fi al-Nahw by Abu al-Qasim al-Suhaili (d. 581 AH)

Abstract

In his work Nata’ij al-Fikr fi al-Nahw, Abu al-Qasim al-Suhaili addresses a range of linguistic issues, including the principles and discussions of stylistics, which form the focal point of this study.

The first section of this research provides a descriptive overview of al-Suhaili’s style in the book under examination. The second section then delves into an analysis of stylistic principles and discussions present within the text. A close reading of Nata’ij al-Fikr reveals that meaning serves as the central axis of every issue the author addresses, with stylistic analysis being the foundation of his approach. Given the significant role stylistic discussions play throughout the book, we found it fitting to title this study "Stylistic Phenomena in Nata’ij al-Fikr fi al-Nahw by Abu al-Qasim al-Suhaili."
