The study area was designated as the southern part of the alluvial plain in Basra Governorate. The objective of the study was to identify and analyze the geographical issues affecting the agricultural sector in general and the plant sector in particular. This includes addressing climate issues, water resource problems, and soil conditions, as well as proposing solutions to address or mitigate these challenges. The study aimed to reduce the amount of evaporation/transpiration in the area, establish a green belt, conserve biodiversity, and improve agricultural soil properties, such as soil texture and structure, and reduce salt concentrations. Additionally, the study explored solutions for water resource issues and irrigation and drainage systems by utilizing modern technologies and upgrading traditional irrigation systems. Further proposals were made for linking, converting, and creating new water pathways.
