Abstract

This study aims to address the topic of the poetics of irony in the discourse of Al-Hariri's Maqamat, specifically exploring the strategies employed by Al-Hariri to construct an ironic discourse that enhances the poetic nature of his work. Al-Hariri’s Maqamat, born from a cultural fusion and the diversity of literary genres, serves as a medium for authors to express their social, political, and ethical needs. Through a descriptive stylistic approach, this study analyzes the structure of the text and decodes its discourse by examining the convergence and cohesion of various elements within the maqama. It further explores the reasons that led to the creation of such ironic discourses, reflecting the social realities of the time.
