Abstract

Abstract:

The announcement of the British withdrawal from the Arabian Gulf region led to a competition between major and regional powers to control the resources of this area. The United States sought to inherit the British role and ensure the flow of oil supplies to it and Western countries. Iraq made every effort and used its capabilities to exert influence and control over the countries in the region. However, it faced the Iranian role, supported by the United States and Britain, which prevented Iraq from achieving its goals in controlling the countries in the region. The United States, with its policies and strength, managed to exert influence and control and inherit the British role in the region.
