Economic characteristics of the agricultural labor force in the Governorate of Basra

Abstract

The study of the characteristics of the agricultural labor force is one of the important population studies, as it deals with the pillars of the human labor force that has an economic impact on the local and national product. The research aims to know the economic characteristics of the agricultural labor force in the province of Basra through a detailed presentation of the vocabulary of the research problem that includes knowing detailed answers about what are the economic characteristics of the agricultural workforce and their spatial variations and related phenomena, which are extracted from the results of the field study of the study area for the year 2020, The research relied on the descriptive analytical method and the quantitative method in analyzing and distributing the agricultural labor force spatially according to its economic characteristics, which crystallized several results, the most prominent of which are the agricultural workers issued according to the type of agricultural work in the first place with a percentage of (51.6%) at the governorate level, and in the case The process The workers with their families ranked first with a rate of (42.2%), while permanent employers of the agricultural workforce according to the duration of agricultural work ranked first with a rate of (78.5%).                                                                             To advance the reality of the agricultural workforce and their future, it is necessary to work to support workers in the agricultural sector by activating the role of agricultural associations and providing them with all requirements for the advancement of farmers and farms, and working to support agricultural investment projects and facilitate access to advances and soft agricultural loans, and work to train farmers and develop their skills according to Modern methods related to agricultural operations and the application of scientific research related to the means and operations of modern agriculture
