The Concept of Generational Contemporaneity

Abstract

This research examines the phenomenon of generational succession as a vital factor in the transformation of social and cultural events and its direct reflections on the development of acting in Iraqi theatre. It demonstrates the rapid changes in visions, values, and technology, changes that have produced clear differences between generations. The research also reviews the course of development of Iraqi theatre from its beginnings with the emergence of the modern Iraqi state, as well as the role of theatrical groups and educational institutions in consolidating this art and shaping its contemporary identity.

The research is divided into four chapters. The first chapter presents the research problem and its hypothesis, which asks: How has generational succession contributed to the development of the concept of the art of acting? It also includes the significance of the research, its aim, and the definition of terms.

The second chapter consists of two sections: The first: the concept of generational contemporaneity. The second: generational contemporaneity in Iraqi theatre.

The chapter concludes with the indicators of the theoretical framework.

The third chapter includes an analysis of the play Al-Kharabah as the research sample, followed by the findings and conclusions. The research concludes with a list of sources and references
