Preference by the More Analogically Regular Form in the Topics of Nisbah (= Attribution) and Diminution among Grammarians and Morphologists An Analytical Study

This research addresses issues of preference by the more analogically regular form with regard to nisbah and diminution in morphology, through the study of selected examples from both topics. It aims to identify the preferred form in morphological analogy and to reveal the reasons upon which such preferences are based.

The researcher adopts the descriptive-analytical method, surveying the views of morphologists and comparing them. The reasons for preference generally revolve around reliance on restoring original forms, drawing analogy with a parallel form, or giving preference in the absence of such a parallel. These are among the most prominent forms of morphological analogy adopted by scholars, in addition to observing phonological and morphological principles, such as seeking to avoid heaviness and achieve structural lightness.

The research seeks to highlight the impact of analogy in directing morphological rulings and to demonstrate the method of morphologists in preferring one form over another.
