Abstract

The move by oil-producing countries to raise oil prices aroused Washington’s caution and was accompanied by numerous concerns، especially after its industrial institutions realized their great need for energy in order to ensure the continuation of their growing economic activity. In addition، the United States feared losing its distinguished position in the oil and industrial markets، particularly as European and Asian consumers in Southeast Asia were striving vigorously to obtain the energy resources needed to drive their growing and competitive economies. Therefore، American politicians took action and warned of the consequences of rising oil prices and the development of consumption patterns، in order to secure sufficient supplies at low prices، thereby forming a front of consumers.
