Space and Its Transformations in the Performance of the Theatrical Actor
Keywords:
space, theatrical space, environmentAbstract
The actor’s performance is inherently reliant on spatial engagement, as the actor’s craft is built upon generating expressive and multidimensional meanings within the context of the stage and the imagined environment that aligns with the embodied character’s setting.
This study is divided into four chapters. The first chapter presents the research problem and hypothesis, formulated as follows: What artistic and technical elements are produced by the transformation of space in the actor’s performance through available tools, techniques, and performative capabilities?
The chapter also outlines the research’s importance, objectives, and definitions of key terms.
The second chapter contains two sections:
- The Concept of Space in Greek Thought
- The Importance of Space in Theatrical Performance
The chapter concludes with the theoretical framework’s indicators.
The third chapter is dedicated to the analysis of the play "The Spaces of Ismail" as a case study for the research. This is followed by a discussion of the findings and conclusions.
The study ends with a list of sources and references.
