Abstract

The Iraqi military occupation of Kuwait on August 2, 1990, constituted a regional and international crisis that prompted the Gulf Cooperation Council to address the issue with considerable attention. The Arabian Gulf region served as the stage for the unfolding events and dynamics of the Iraqi occupation in Kuwait. This action came as a complete surprise to the GCC countries and significantly impacted the council on political, security, and economic fronts, necessitating a unified stance in response to the event.
