The Phenomenon of Synonymy in Al-Waseet Book in Interpreting the Noble Quran

Abstract

The phenomenon of synonymy is considered one of the important linguistic phenomena that linguists, both ancient and modern, have addressed, with some affirming its occurrence and considering it as a manifestation of linguistic richness, indicative of its ability to express the same meaning with different words, while others have denied it, seeking subtle differences between those words. This study (The Phenomenon of Synonymy in Al-Waseet Book in Interpreting the Noble Quran by Abu Al-Hasan Ali Ibn Ahmad Al-Wahidi, died 468 AH) sheds light on Al-Wahidi's stance on this phenomenon and his interpretation of it through the Quranic text
