Spatial organization of health polarization centers in the main cities of Basra Governorate

Abstract

The research aims at  identifying the spatial organization of government and private health institutions in  Basra  including  hospitals, specialized centers and private clinics concerning  preparing institutions and their spatial organization, as well as preparing medical staff, health and nursing workers in each institution, and classifying health centers in Basra towns. According to several criteria such as  spatial basis or  the basis of the institution’s belongings and other classification , the study arrived at main conclusions which are necessary for planning aspect of services to Basra towns. Further, it was found that health institutions are randomly organized and there is a lack in preparation of institutions to all towns of the province, as it health institutions and their spatial distribution over the cities of the province. Basra, as well as the lack of preparation of institutions to fill the increasing need of the population for health services.
